“You are my best friend
And you are where my heart is
And I know at the day’s end
I get to come home to you…” – John Michael Montgomery, “Home To You”
I had the extreme pleasure of photographing Christi and Troy’s wedding in June and it was an amazing day. Their relationship is wonderful to watch; they laugh together, take care of each other and genuinely love spending time together. Together with their children, they make a great family.
Christi and Troy’s day started at their home in Chesaning, where both Christi and Troy got ready (at different times, so as not to see each other!). I photographed Christi’s dress and shoes – all the girls wore cowboy boots – and then Christi put on her dress upstairs with the help of her mom, daughter and sister.
After Christi and her girls left, Troy got ready and wrote a little note on the bottom of his boots for the wedding guests to read when he knelt at the altar. I loved that idea!
The ceremony took place at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in New Lothrop. It was my first time there and I loved the beautiful interior and exterior. Troy’s family has been a part of the church since its beginnings in the late 1800s.
After we finished family photos at the church, we went to the Birchmeier farm, where Troy and his siblings grew up, for photos of the bride and groom. There were so many great photo spots that I could have kept Christi and Troy there for hours!
I was super excited to head to the reception at The Pine Tree Barn in Flushing! I had never been there before, but after Christi booked us for her wedding, I did some research online and loved the look of it! I couldn’t wait to photograph Christi and Troy there.
By the time I got to the reception (before the bride and groom), the sky was looking very dark…
…so I popped inside and got some detail shots of the beautiful decorations and favors.
And then…it poured! Just buckets and buckets of rain. Fortunately, most of the guests had already arrived and were safely inside waiting for the bride and groom.
By the time Christi and Troy arrived, the rain had lighted up to mostly drizzle and their wedding party was ready with an umbrella to escort them in.
After toasts, prayer, dinner and cake, the bride and groom opened the dance floor. I love the chandeliers and wood beams throughout the barn’s ceiling – they look gorgeous in the background of photos!
Can I just say that I loved photographing Christi and Troy? They were so sweet and romantic together and totally made my job easy. Not only that, but a little rain didn’t stop them from stepping out from their reception for a mini portrait session on the Pine Tree Barn’s grounds!
Christi and Troy, you two are a joy! I’m so happy the two of you found each other and I’m honored I got to capture your first official day as Mr. and Mrs. Birchmeier. I hope I get to see you both again soon!
