Ellen & Doug {Bay City Wedding Photographers}

Ellen and Doug’s wedding took place on a cold but sunny January day in Bay City. We started at the DoubleTree Hotel near the riverfront and spent time with the girls in the Wenonah Suite. I always love photographing brides getting ready there because the room is full of natural light. Ellen’s dress and details had a beautiful vintage look. The hat she wore during the ceremony and formal photos at the church belonged to a relative of Doug who wore it during her wedding.

After spending time at the DoubleTree, I met the guys at St. Stan’s in Bay City, which is just gorgeous. The guys finished getting ready in the balcony and once Ellen arrived, the ceremony got started. I enjoyed photographing Ellen and Doug’s ceremony, as it was obvious that they put a lot of care and thought into each portion of it. Since both the bride and groom have jobs in the music field, their ceremony (of course) featured beautiful music from trumpets, the church organ and a choir.

Once the ceremony and portraits were finished at the church, I followed the wedding party’s bus to downtown Bay City where we used the colorful brick and Third Street Star Bridge for some portraits. I appreciated the wedding party’s positive attitudes while standing outside in the cold weather!

After portraits, it was back to the DoubleTree to photograph the cocktail hour (with a live jazz band) and the reception decorations before the wedding party arrived. I was of course very happy to be working with Corey from Rusch Entertainment for the night, since he always does an amazing job as DJ. The dance floor was packed during the evening and everyone had a great time celebrating the bride and groom.
